Great NW Tour and More; from Samantha
Well well well…who would’ve thought Portland would be 100 degrees during Pickathon!? Ah! I felt like my body was an oven most of the time but I embraced the heat, let my body irrigate, played some sweaty shows, and watched some incredible bands…Pickathon is STILL my favorite festival.
My highlights were seeing our new friends, Dr.Dog, play in the barn at 1am, Frank Fairfield on the last day (he made me cry it was so good), and my buddy Joe Pug playing that Hymn 101 all over Pendarvis Farm….I also had an awkwardly good time doing a songwriting workshop in cahoots with Justin Townes Earle.
Next up is the Summer Series show at the South Park Amphitheater up by Pittsburgh and then the MASSMoCA festival in North Adams, MA (I will be playing this show solo though ya’ll).
Just to let ya’ll in on a bit of information, I’ll be recording a new EP with Joey Lemon, who did the Confiscation, in November when I’m home. We’ll be working out of his soon-to-be new studio in Wichita, KS. Hopes to have lots of collaborative work with Ben Wigler of the band, Arizona, on there…Get ready for something a little different on this one…
Alright, we have a few days off now, so I’m off to get my hair cut, go watch my friend Becky paint in her studio, buy clean underwear, detox from Taco Bell by running in the Perryville Park Center, and go have a good time at the Willow Folk Festival with Davey Jones of Frontier Ruckus. All my love to you lovlies…
