Holdin’ That Wheel
Sometimes you encounter a person who has the mysterious ability to maneuver your emotions by doing nothing other than going along with their daily business. Immediately, there is an aspiration to parallel your own self with theirs, to live as they live, to mimic them like a little boy scurrying behind in the shadow of his big brother. The goal is to apprentice them, to take the characteristics they possess and, through trial and error, adopt those that agree with your own person and continue onward. Like Bobby Dylan to his Woody Guthrie, Timothy to his Paul of Tarsus, Eliot to his Pound.
